Creating Meaning
Each of the paintings in the second part of the exhibit was created during a Dr. Dog sound-check before their live show.
There are no lyrics written on the canvas, instead they were created alla prima, each one in about 2 hours, at a sound check.

In this room there is also a
magnetic board along with 2" tall magnetic snippets of Dr. Dog lyrics. Much like the refrigerator poetry idea, attendees can splice together different words and phrases from various Dr. Dog lyrics to create new and innovative meaning. |

At sound check they often practice
just bits and pieces of songs, snippets of their whole work, sometimes over and over again. There are times when this is all we are given in our relationship with someone who has dementia. |

If we take the initiative and engage with the information that is in front of us, a new beauty and meaning with relationship can be created. It is up to us to rearrange the snippets to have this interactive experience. But WE must take the initiative and interact in order to create this opportunity. |
